Easter 2009

This year saw us heading back to Corindi Beach for another Easter of camping. We had 4 sites (3 tent and 1 van) which included the 5 of us, Nanna and Grandpa, Mama and Papa, Uncle D, Uncle JJ, Aunty Nic and Deb. They had received a lot of rain in the previous weeks which did not help the cause and we had some reasonably heavy showers on the Saturday and Sunday nights but we still had a few good days at the beach.

Due to the rain we came home a day early and some of the stuff is still drying out but it was a good break and I think we will be back again next year......

Weetbix Triathlon

On Sunday 6th April the girls entered their second triathlon. This was part of the national Weetbix series for kids. It was held at Southbank. There were about 2,500 children who participated and about 10,000 parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, uncles and aunts who watched and it was a bit of a zoo!

This event was all about participation.....so there were no race times or placings. The girls raced in their own age groups and both raced really well. Nikita was racing on her new bike for the first time and she rode without a hitch.

Photos of the girls are on the web at: Picasaweb

Below are a couple photos of the girls on their bikes.

Their next triathlon is at Raby Bay on Sunday 19th April. I will also be donning the speedos and participating in this one with them.

The kids first triathlon

Sunday 8th February 2009 saw Natalia and Nikita compete in their first triathlon. The "Kool Kids" triathlon is part of the Gatorade Triathlon series. Race 5 of the series was taking place at Golden Beach on the Sunshine Coast.

The triathlon was a 100m swim, 2km ride and 400m run. Both the girls did really well and are keen to give it another go. All grandparents were on hand to watch and cheer on the grandchildren. All in all it was a fun day. The next event for the kids is in April.
